1Eleven Behavioral Health is about 30 minutes from Winston-Salem, reached by US-421 and I-40 E. Some of you will make the drive for in-person sessions at our Greensboro facility. Others would rather stay home, and our virtual programs make it possible. Either way, your Winston-Salem, NC rehab plan covers addiction and mental health together, built around your history and your week. You start with a conversation and set the pace from there.
Mental Health and Substance Use Concerns We Treat
We treat adults in the Winston-Salem area for substance use disorders and a range of mental health conditions. Anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, and OCD are all part of our work. Stress, anger, and lingering grief belong here too. If another kind of program would fit you better, we will say so.
Our addiction treatment programs cover alcohol, opioids, stimulants, and misused prescriptions. Each begins with a full look at your use and what it has cost you at work and at home. Depression, anxiety, or trauma can sit underneath the drinking or drug use, so we ask about them together. Family members can call too. Tell us what you have noticed, and we will start there.
How Your Individualized Assessment Shapes the Plan
Assessments can be completed at our office in Greensboro or via video-chat from your home. Many adults that call us live too far away to drive in, so that’s why we created both options. Either option starts with our clinicians reviewing your mental health history and drug/alcohol use history. We then discuss current medications and what a normal week looks like for you.
We discuss goals with you and compare them with your symptoms, history, and weekly obligations. Your mental health symptoms and drug and alcohol use are assessed together because one impacts the other. The assessment determines if you need full days of programming or a few hours a week. If you need more care than we provide in an outpatient setting, we will let you know.

PHP or IOP: Which Level of Care Fits Your Week?
We offer two outpatient levels of care: a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). You sleep at home with either one. The real difference is time. When you are comparing drug rehab near Winston-Salem, NC, ask each program how it handles detox. Detox is not something we provide on site. We refer you to partner detox providers and coordinate the handoff so that you can move into either program afterward.
PHP: The Most Intensive Level We Offer
PHP fills most of a weekday. Sessions combine individual therapy, group work, and family sessions when they fit your plan. Virtual PHP keeps the same hours, so expect a full day even from your own couch. You may land here after inpatient care, or because symptoms have made ordinary days hard to manage.
IOP: Fewer Days, Shorter Days
IOP asks for a few hours at a time, a few days a week. The rest of your day stays open for a job, classes, or the school pickup line. Individual therapy and group sessions still anchor your week, and your therapist closely tracks your progress. You can step down into IOP after PHP or begin here at the start, depending on your assessment.
Getting Care From Home With Virtual PHP and IOP
Five PHP days at 30 minutes each way put about 5 hours a week on the road. Virtual PHP and IOP give those hours back. You log in from a quiet room at home, anywhere in North Carolina. Addiction and mental health programs both run virtually, with the same sessions and groups you would attend in Greensboro.
Your Winston-Salem, NC rehab plan can change format as your life does. A heavy month at work might start you online, with in-person sessions in Greensboro once things calm down. Others begin in person and move to video later. Tell your therapist when the format no longer fits.
How Common Are Substance Use and Mental Health Conditions Together?
According to the 2025 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, an estimated 44.6 million people ages 12 and older had a substance use disorder in 2025. The figure equals 15.3% of everyone in that age group. Those numbers come from the most recent national survey available. The survey counts each condition separately, so the totals hide how much the two overlap.
Overlap is why we plan for both at once. Our dual diagnosis care keeps them in a single plan. Treating one condition while ignoring the other often lets the untreated one take charge. You do not have to decide which came first before you call. A single assessment sorts that out with you.
The Therapies We Build Your Plan Around
Your assessment decides which therapies go into your plan. We draw from approaches with strong evidence behind them. Four anchor most plans for adults coming to us from Winston-Salem. You will not receive all four by default. Your therapist adjusts the mix as you progress. Ask why any piece is there, and you will get a straight answer.
Family Therapy
Family therapy brings a spouse or parent into sessions with you. Your therapist uses the time to work on communication and trust. You also plan what home looks like during the program. Timing depends on your goals and comfort, and you set the pace.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT gives you concrete tools for moments when emotion outruns judgment. Sessions teach distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and mindfulness, with practice assigned between meetings. A craving or an argument becomes something you can rehearse for in advance.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy gives you private time with a therapist who knows your full history. Details that feel too heavy for a group find a place here. As your needs shift, the pace and focus shift with them.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive-behavioral therapy shows how thoughts shape feelings and actions, and it does so in a way you can test. Between sessions, you log a trigger, your thought, and your response. Your therapist reviews the pattern with you. Over time, you learn to change one link in the chain, whether that is the thought or the response.

Making Room for Work, Classes, and Home
PHP and full-time work battle for your daylight hours. If PHP is what we recommend, expect reduced hours or a brief leave of absence. After that, figure out who will cover pickups and meals at home while you’re gone. Your needs determine your program, and your schedule determines how we fit it into ours.
If school is in your schedule, bring your term dates with you on assessment day. Midterm week and finals week both require different things from you, and we plan around your school schedule. Rotating shifts or nights also affect your schedule. A set daytime program rarely works with these, so let us know your pattern as soon as possible.
